Egg roll in a bowl recipe:

If you haven't noticed by now, I'm a huge fan of egg rolls! They're so fun, and I love all the dips and flavor combinations you can make. But sometimes, I don't have time to wrap each egg roll in a wrapper and cook them (though I do have some air fryer egg roll recipes that make the cooking part easier!) so when I'm in a hurry I'm in, these egg rolls in a bowl are my favourite! It's so easy and delicious, and you can change out many of the ingredients to customize this recipe to your liking.

So what is called egg roll in a bowl? The name really says it all! This is a delicious stuffing for egg rolls without wrappers. It's similar to stir fry, and it's so easy and delicious you'll fall in love! My favourite part is that I can whip up a really delicious dinner in just 10 minutes that feeds my whole family.

Ingredients for Egg Roll in a Bowl:

Fresh ingredients always taste best, which is why this recipe is chock full of fresh herbs and vegetables. You can buy some items pre-cut, which will speed up prep time! As you become familiar with this dish, start changing up the ingredients to play with the flavour profile.

Sesame Oil: Sesame oil adds that traditional flavour you love to your egg rolls and is a must in this dish!

Onions: I recommend mincing them for this recipe so that the flavour is evenly distributed throughout the dish.

Garlic: Garlic adds so much flavour and takes this dish to the next level!
Fresh Ginger: Fresh garlic is always the tastiest, but if you're in a pinch, you can use powdered.

Ground Turkey: I used 1 pound of ground turkey in this recipe. If you dislike turkey, you can use ground beef or pork alternatively!

Soya Sauce: I added soya sauce as the last addition to this dish. It was amazing!

Prepared Coleslaw Mix: I just bought a bag of pre-shredded cabbage and carrot mix, which is sold at the grocery store as pre-made coleslaw mix.

Salt and pepper: To taste, but since soy sauce contains sodium, you can omit the salt if you prefer.

Chopped Green Onions: I serve this as a garnish on top of the dish. It adds a nice bright, fresh flavour and a nice pop of color!

Sesame seeds (for garnish): Since you have already added sesame oil, you can skip it if you want. I personally like to add a sprinkling of sesame seeds for garnish after plating this dish for added texture and flavour.

How to make Egg Roll in One Bowl:

Get ready to have a new food favourite! This recipe is very easy, and it gets ready in just 10 minutes. It's also full of vegetables for balance and is a well-rounded dinner.

Heat the spices:
Heat the sesame oil over medium to high heat in a large pan. Add onions and cook till translucent.

Add and cook:
Add the garlic and ginger to the pan, then cook for an additional 30 seconds.

Cook the meat:
Cook ground turkey in a large skillet over medium-high heat until browned. Try to keep the ground turkey in large pieces, not too small.

Add Coleslaw:
Add coleslaw mixture and stir well. Cook until softened. Cook the mixture over low to medium heat, stirring constantly, then add the soy sauce as the coleslaw mixture begins to soften.

Salt and pepper: mix with salt and pepper for taste.

Garnish: Before serving, garnish with green onions, sesame seeds and additional soy sauce, if needed. I also like a drizzle of Sriracha for extra heat.
